9 June – World Accreditation Day
On 9 June, the World Accreditation Day is celebrated across the world. The main topic in this year is “Delivering confidence in construction and the built environment”. Standards and conformity assessment, carried out by an accredited body, are instruments, which provide support to the construction sector in all of its processes, starting from designers, architects, engineers, manufacturers, contractors, owners and managers of buildings, to the public sector, regulators and control bodies – for development of appropriate legislation, as well as for ensuring of environmental protection and public safety and trust.
Construction is a significant area of national economy as it is related not only to the economic development of the state, but also to environmental and public safety. The challenge in the construction sector is to strive for reduction of costs and gaining profit, at the same time, ensuring and improving construction quality and creating safe environment both at the construction site and in the built environment in the long-term perspective.
