On 1 January 2017, amendments to the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 60 “Regulations Regarding Mandatory Requirements for Medical Treatment Institutions and Their Structural Units” of 20 January 2009 came into force, which, among other things, provide for the obligation of medical treatment institutions to ensure accreditation of medical laboratories according to requirements of the standard LVS EN ISO 15189:2013 “Medical laboratories. Requirements for quality and competence” until 31 December 2017.

Considering that the initial accreditation of medical laboratories is a time-consuming process, the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau invites medical treatment institutions to timely prepare for and start the accreditation process of their medical laboratories, submitting an application on site in the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau or sending it by mail. Before submission of the accreditation application, please, contact the Secretariat of the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau by calling 67373051!

The terms and conditions for accreditation of medical laboratories are available on the website of the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau, in the section Documents.
