On 14-17 April of this year, Islande Hotel will host the 32nd Forum of Accreditation and Licensing Bodies and the meeting and training of the Environmental Working Group of the Certification Committee of the European co-operation for Accreditation.  This event will be attended by representatives of more than 35 accreditation bureaus from across Europe, among them also representatives of the Latvian National Accreditation Bureau.

The Forum of Accreditation and Licensing Bodies (FALB) is organised once a year in one of the EU presidency states. Due to the fact, that Latvia is the EU Council presidency state in this year, Riga was chosen as the venue of the 32nd Forum of Accreditation and Licensing Bodies.

The objective of FALB is to ensure consistent procedures in the following areas:

•    accreditation or licensing of environmental verifiers in accordance with the EC Regulation No. 1221/2009 (on the voluntary participation by organisations in a Community eco-management and audit scheme (EMAS)), including rejection, suspension and revocation of accreditation or licence;
•    supervision of activities performed by accredited or licensed environmental verifiers.

The European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) is an association of European national accreditation bodies, which is officially recognized by national governments of Member States to assess and approve organizations, which perform conformity assessment – testing, calibration, inspection, verification and certification – in accordance with international standards.

The objective of training of the Environmental Working Group of EA Certification Committee is to promote understanding about application of the new version of ISO 50003 standard. The main focus will be on competence and process requirements included in the standard.
